In this paper, we report a study based on anticancer properties of Carissa carandas L. The aerial parts of plant material were collected, shade dried and extracted with pet ether, chloroform, ethyl acetate, and ethanol using soxhlet extraction procedure. The study was aimed to evaluation of the anticancer activity of the ethanolic fractions of Carissa carandas L have been traditionally used for many ailments including cancer. In the present study, anticancer activity of ethanolic fractions of Carissa carandas L was evaluated using different invitro methods..In vitro antitumor activity was evaluated by the MTT assay and SRB method using Vero and HEP-2 cell lines. In in vitro activity plant fractions exhibited significant cytotoxic activity against both cells lines even at different concentrations. Oral administration of CCF at the dose of 250,500 and 1000 mg/kg. The results showed the significant decrease of the viability of the cells in a concentration dependent manner.
<Email>kabhisumi@gmail.com</Email><articletype>Research</articletype><volume>6</volume><issue>2</issue><year>2016</year><keyword>Carissa carandas L,Cytotoxicity Activity,MTT Assay,SRB Assay,Ehrlich Ascites Carcinoma,Daltons Lymphoma Asties,Hella cell line,Vero Cell Line</keyword><AUTHORS>K.Sumathi,N.Senthil kumar</AUTHORS><afflication>Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, J.K.K.Munirajah Medical Research Foundation, College of Pharmacy, Komarapalayam, Tamilnadu, India.,Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, J.K.K.Munirajah Medical Research Foundation, College of Pharmacy, Komarapalayam, Tamilnadu, India.</afflication></Article></Articles>
