ON SCOPOLAMINE INDUCED AMNESIC MICE</JournalTitle>
Objective of this study was to evaluate the nootropic activity of methanolic extract of leaves of Sorghum vulgare (L.) (MESV) using scopolamine induced amnesia in mice on Morris water maze and Elevated plus maze. MESV (200 & 400mg/kg) was administered orally for seven successive days followed by Scopolamine (0.4 mg/kg i.p.) on 8th day in mice. Morris water maze and Elevated plus maze was employed to evaluate learning and memory. Scopolamine was used to induce amnesia in mice and the activity was compared with standard drug Piracetam. MESV significantly improved learning and memory in mice and reversed the scopolamine induced amnesia. The MESV afforded significant neuroprotection against using scopolamine induced amnesia in mice.
<Email>Baganupam1986@gmail.com</Email><articletype>Research</articletype><volume>6</volume><issue>1</issue><year>2016</year><keyword>Nootropic,Morris water maze,Elevated plus maze,Sorghum vulgare (L.)</keyword><AUTHORS>Anupam Kanti Bag,Shaik.Karimulla,Deepak Kumar</AUTHORS><afflication>Department of Pharmacology, Annamacharya College of Pharmacy, Rajampet, YSR Kadapah-516126, Andhra Pradesh, India.,Department of Pharmacology, Dr. K.
