<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><Articles><Article><id>46</id><JournalTitle>EFFECT OF PAROXETINE ON RATS USING ACUTE WOUND HEALING MODEL</JournalTitle><Abstract>To evaluate the wound healing activity of Paroxetine in dead space wound model and to study its effects on Dexamethasone suppressed wound healing. Methods: For assessment of wound healing activity dead space wound model was used. Group I received distilled water, orally, Group II received Paroxetine, i.p, Group III received Dexamethasone intramuscularly [i.m] and Group IV received Dexamethasone i.m and Paroxetine, i.p. Parameters observed were dry weight and hydroxyproline content in dead space wound model. Results: In the dead space model, there was increase in the collagen content of the granulation tissue, which was statistically higher in paroxetine group [P=0.002] when compared to control group. Those rats which received Dexamethasone + paroxetine did not show any significant change in the collagen content when compared to rats which received Dexamethasone alone. Conclusion: Granulation tissue showed higher collagen content in paroxetine group when compared to control group.
