Penile cancer is a rare dangerous disease in western world with severe morbidity and mortality. The disease is recognized with dramatically increased incidence in other parts of world. Most of penile cancers are in situ or invasive squamous cell carcinomas including a well differentiated variant verrucous carcinoma. The main factors of penile cancer are lack of circumcision, human papillomavirus infections, penile lichen sclerosus etc. Prevention, careful monitoring of patients at risk, and early diagnosis are essential to reduce the incidence of penile carcinoma. Public health measures, such as prophylactic use of circumcision, have proved successful decrease in penile cancer, but are controversial. There are no standard therapeutic guidelines for the best treatment strategy according to different stages, of penile cancer. Penile cancer is an emerging problem that deserves proper investigations, and physicians, especially dermatologists, should be aware of this issue.
