Edible shrubs contain a good supply of protein and other precious animal nutrients. Taking it into consideration, leaf and flower samples were collected in 2009 from Makawanpur District of Nepal for proximate analysis. Six different nutritional parameters were analyzed. The results showed that the crude protein of leaf and flower was 12.09% and 8.19% followed by total ash 7.76% (leaf) and 4.85% (flower). The leaf and flower have 0.48% and 0.14% of calcium. Crude fiber content in leaf was (15.94%) and flower (10.17%). Ether extract of leaf was (1.64%) and flower (0.41%). The energy content is 3172 cal/g (leaf), and 2793 cal/g (flower). It was concluded that the plant is rich with variety of important nutritional substances. Preliminary information regarding the nutritious compositions justified its significance in Nepalese prespectives. A further detailed research towards the commercialization of Nepalese W. fruticosa is recommended.
